Can't play online

When I click on connect on the play page I crashes while its on the 1st screen (searching for updates)

Offline SP mode works fine. I tried reinstalling, same thing. Did a quick google search on the error code and some site said it was a .net framework issue, so I did some windows updates which I apparently haven't done since late 2012. Still the same thing.

I should probably try reinstalling again or..? any ideas

  1. What operating system are you using?
  2. Does it also crash if you run it manually and not from the web browser? (%appdata%/ProjectRIK is default location)
  3. Which web browser are you using?
  4. Can you try running it as admin? (if you aren't already..)
  5. Antivirus, firewall, or similar software that could be interfering with it? Try temporarily disabling it?

Aside from that, you could try installing .Net framework 4.5 manually, and see if that makes a difference.. I doubt reinstalling RIK itself more times will make a difference, it tries to launch it so paths and registry stuff match up :)

If all of this fails, I'll upload a custom version of the launcher you can try :)After reading up on it a bit, it could be some bug/corrupt files in your Windows installation that causes it. It's a somewhat common error for .net framework based programs. But I think we can work around it easily enough with the custom version, if it comes to that.

Still no luck :( I found this site that explains what the parameters are in that kind of windows error, but I'm too stupid to understand that technical jargon, maybe you could take a look and see if its relevant

This might actually be a .net framework 4.5 issue, should of tried to install it manually like you suggested xD.

Tried reinstalling and it was hanging on that for ages (installing .net famework 4.5) so I cancelled it and started again and here's the log for the start of that install:

I think you've been using the installer from the last alpha release maybe? This was a bug there (c:/prorams/.. error) but it should be fixed in the newest version of setup.exe.
