Have you tested the game in Windows 10 much? After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10, RIK started screen tearing like a bitch, and playing with vsync on a game like this is just not an option, but it's the only thing that seems to fix it

To me this sounds very much like a graphics driver related issue. First thing I'd try would be to update my graphics drivers, could be they have some problem with windows 10, and I know windows 10's automatic driver installation isn't perfect. If that doesn't work out post a forum thread with your hardware info + if you updated or reinstalled to get win10.

I'm gonna post random conversation logs with Dinius here as well. I hereby name this topic OFFTOPIC CHAT WITH DINIUS.

[8:21:20] Dinius: Then again compile took like 2 hours didnt it?
[8:21:27] Juho X: yeah

Mine was by request

What's your purpose for shitposting? Riiight, you're just naturally an arsehole.

.......I wonder why people tend to PM me their questions instead of posting :p

Anyways, things to try/Questions..

  1. Are you playing fullscreen, borderless, or windowed? If answer isnt fullscreen, try fullscreen.
  2. One or multiple monitors?
  3. I'd still try REINSTALLING the graphics drivers, if you havent
  4. try renaming the "Player" folder in your RIK install dir, so you get the default settings and see if that makes any difference
  5. Monitor refresh rate set to its max? (60hz or more)
  6. Any issues in any other games? (still have ET?)
  7. If no help so far, can you give screens of settings/detailed settings/default settings for the graphics driver for RIK.exe, not familiar with the current version of AMD drivers.

PS. He knew it was by request. Still he posted that. He was jealous of your nicely formatted post. inb4..

8: Wanna try "high contrast mode" (in windows) as well, and see if you're still getting tearing then..

1. Tearing is actually present only on fullscreen

2. Multiple.. Tried switching primary monitors and tearing is present on both.

Primary: 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz (max 60)
Secondary: 1280 x 1024 @ 60hz (max 75)

3. Just finished reinstalling twice and no difference. Tried both latest stable version (16.3.2) and also the lastest non-whql version (16.7.2), using DDU to remove previous drivers.

4. No difference

5. Primary at max, tried increasing secondary to max but made no difference

6. I don't have ET but I just tested Warsow (I think q2 engine?) and that's smooth as butter, no tearing there.

7.

8. I've tried both High Contrast mode as well as Performance Mode, but again no difference.

next up then, if you disconnect the secondary monitor so windows only sees one (and maybe reboot), does that make a difference? I know some of the other people have had some issues with multi monitor setups, all of that has been with nvidia cards though but its likely that amd cards could have some similar issue. But Im unsure about the specifics/dont remember.

If that makes no difference, the fact that its a problem only in fullscreen is at least something to go on.. Only other thing I can think of then would be to play around with misc settings in the amd control panel for rik.. e.g. "AMD optimized" sounds scary :p
